Princeton University School of Engineering and Applied Science

Princeton University School of Engineering and Applied Science is located in Princeton, New Jersey, United States. A school within Princeton University, which is one of the eight universities of the Ivy League, it provides undergraduate and graduate instruction in six departments: chemical and biological engineering, civil and environmental engineering, computer science, electrical engineering, mechanical and aerospace engineering, and operations research and financial engineering. It has nearly 950 undergraduates, 550 graduate students and 130 faculty members in its six departments.
The School of Engineering is home to seven major interdisciplinary centers: the Andlinger Center for Energy and the Environment, the Center for Information Technology Policy, the Combustion Energy Frontier Research Center, the Gigascale Systems Research Center, the Keller Center for Innovation in Engineering Education, the Mid-Infrared Technologies for Health and the Environment (MIRTHE), and the Princeton Institute for the Science and Technology of Materials (PRISM).
In 2012, the ''Times Higher Education'' ranked Princeton second among engineering schools worldwide.
==History==
On August 25, 1875, Princeton's Board of Trustees elected Charles McMilllan as chair of civil engineering, the University's first engineering department. Early engineering students were taught in the John C. Green School of Science, which opened in 1873.
